Block safe mode: OFFBET's maximum protection

As the device owner, OFFBET switches off safe mode and the reset from Settings, as long as your PIN protects you. You need a computer and about twenty minutes.

The 7 steps

  1. Install the Android tools on the computer

    Download « SDK Platform-Tools » from the official Android site and unzip the folder: developer.android.com

  2. Turn on developer options

    On the phone: Settings → About phone → tap « Build number » 7 times.

  3. Turn on USB debugging

    Settings → System → Developer options → USB debugging.

  4. Remove your accounts, for a few minutes

    Settings → Accounts: remove each account (Google, Samsung, Xiaomi…). Nothing is lost: everything comes back when you add them again in step 7.

  5. Plug in the phone

    Connect it to the computer, then accept « Allow USB debugging » on the phone's screen.

  6. Run the command

    Open a terminal in the platform-tools folder and paste:

    adb shell dpm set-device-owner com.offbet.android/.admin.OffbetDeviceAdminReceiver

    The terminal answers « Success: Device owner set ». Done.

  7. Add your accounts back

    Settings → Accounts → add them again. You can then turn USB debugging off.

What it changes

  • Safe mode switched off
  • Reset from Settings switched off

Both stay in place as long as your PIN protects you.

To leave it

Uninstall OFFBET from the app, with your PIN: the device owner mode is removed by itself. If your access ends, the blocks are lifted too.

If the command refuses

already some accounts on the device
An account is still on the phone: check Settings → Accounts, work profile included.
already several users on the device
Delete the guest or second user (Settings → Users).
Calling identity is not authorized
On Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco: also turn on « USB debugging (Security settings) » in developer options, before you remove your Xiaomi account.
Unknown admin
OFFBET is not installed, or the command was copied wrong: use the Copy button.

Questions

Do I have to wipe my phone?

No. Removing your accounts for the time of the command is enough. Your photos, apps and data stay.

Can I undo it?

Yes. Uninstalling OFFBET with your PIN removes the device owner mode.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes, on Android 8 or later, any brand. OFFBET must already be installed from the Play Store, with a PIN.
